Marischal Square

MSite Solutions: Access & Attendance and Online Inductions

Duration: 24 months

Value: £107 million

Transforming the city centre of Aberdeen, Marischal Square is a £107 million scheme development for Muse Developments, with circa 300 operatives on site over the project duration. Consisting of offices, restaurants, cafes, and a 126 bedroom hotel, the project is a significant development for the city and Morgan Sindall.

"Adopting a system with the dependability and accuracy of MSite allows us to actually focus on the building work itself, with the software able to create site reports and the MSite turnstiles unfailingly controlling access to site."

Morgan Sindall

The Challenge:

Controlling site access to ensure members of the public cannot accidentally enter is a top priority, especially as the project is based in a city centre.

Keeping the workers safe and organised is also a key consideration, as up to 300 people are on the live site when the project is at its peak.

A reliable workforce and site management system is required to secure the perimeter and report on the number of workers and site functions.

As Morgan Sindall are also required to monitor carbon emissions and commit to the development of local labour, accessible and accurate reports on these areas are essential to the project.

The Solution:

Morgan Sindall chose MSite with just one MSite POD housing a biometric turnstile, all workers are documented when they enter the site, and any worker with lapsed accreditations cannot enter.

The MSite software meets the demands of the site by saving time in creating highly accurate reports on numerous aspects of the overall job performance

The Result:

The team at Marischal Square regularly add MSite reports to their site diary, including ‘First In, Last Out’ report to show the earliest start and latest finish times of their workers. The environmental and local labour reports have also proved to be invaluable to share with the local authorities and head office.

In terms of increasing site security, the automatic restrictions have already stopped people with expired cards entering the site. Marischal Square has also taken advantage of MSite’s ability to record accreditations against an individual (like PASMA), and to audit when they are due to expire. The manual restriction function of MSite also allows the site to control on a case by case basis which individuals can be blocked from entry
